I love my air fryer! It’s a great way to enjoy fried food without feeling guilty about the grease and fat. I can definitely see why they have become so popular. However, it’s important to note that like any kitchen device, air fryers have their pros and cons. One potential downside that has been a cause for concern is EMF radiation.

If you’re like me and want to use an air fryer but are concerned about radiation, there are some steps you can take to ensure your safety.

  • Stand back while the air fryer is in use. Firstly, make sure to stand at a safe distance from the device when it’s in use. As we saw in the video, radiation levels increased significantly the closer the meter was to the fryer. Standing six feet away reduced most of the exposure. When you turn on the air fryer, be mindful of the distance between yourself and the device, just like you would with a microwave.
  • Use a timer. Most air fryers come with built-in timers that allow you to set the cooking duration. By using the timer function, you can ensure that the appliance is only in operation for the necessary amount of time, minimizing both energy consumption and EMF exposure.
  • Unplug the fryer when not in use. Another good practice is to unplug the air fryer when it’s not in use. Leaving it plugged in can draw electricity, which adds to your household’s cumulative EMF level and increases your electric bill. So, make sure to unplug your air fryer when it’s not in use.

I was slightly concerned to discover that air fryers do in fact produce EMF radiation just like any other electrical device. Thankfully though, there are ways to ensure their safe usage and to minimize our overall exposure.
